Troop 201 Historian Report

klondike prep

December 3rd to December 5th, 2010

When we got to the campsite at Frragut, there was a lot of snow! We dug the snow on to piles and set up the dining fly and the scout tents. Then we dug out an area for the adult tent and got it set up. Jose and I found a fire pit buried in the snow. When that was dug out, we built a fire in it. Once all the tents were set up, all the boys got all their stuff that they brought with them to camp. I brought the tables over to camp.

Next to go to camp were the patrol boxes and their legs. We got the patrol boxes from the trucks to the campsite with the klondike sleds. Then we went to get the food. It took so long that when we were done it was time to go to bed.

The next morning, it took a while for everyone to wake up. Once every one was awake, we ate breakfast and went sledding. Mr.Whitt took us to a great sledding hill that turned out to be a 3 mile hike through deep snow. Mr. Whitt called some of the leaders to take us back to camp. When we got back to camp, the adults and some of the scouts were building igloos and about 10 seconds after we got back, it was lunch. After lunch everyone was only able to complete 2 igloos and once they were done we put candles in them. Before everyone ate dinner, each patrol put on 2 skits for the families who came to join us for dinner that night. For desert we had cobbler. There was a lot! That night, some of the boys slept in the snow caves(igloos). The boys were: Jake, Ryan,Steven,Cameron,Tyler, and Seth.

The next morning, everyone packed up, tore down the tents, and left. When we got to the Scout Shack, we hung the tents inside, unloaded the gear and then went home.

The campout was really, really fun and I would like to do that campout again.
