You couldn't ask for a better night to be a scout. It was the perfect night to catch up on merit badges and awards. Starting with a complete explanation of the scout law and oath, it tells you what it really means to be a scout. The new positions were announced by Mr. Whitt for the troop and we are fortunate to have Chris as our new Senior Patrol Leader. We welcomed new scouts, Chad, Brian, Nick, and Joscha. They are the Timberwolves patrol. Four new Eagle Scouts were recognized, they included Chris and Eric, who were present, and Justin and Dirk. We had over 30 advancements and over 30 merit badges presented. It was a proud night to be a scout. Everyone who attended the Klondike Derby received a patch. Philip was congratulated for being the previous SPL, and he did an outstanding job. Mr. Peterson from Old Missions District gave an excellent talk of when he lived and worked with scouts in Alaska. He explained the values of supporting the scout from Friends of Scouting. Then we had a break with ice cream and any topping you can think of. It concluded with a talk from Mr. Waddell on the upcoming High Adventure trip, and Mr. Grimm on Summer Camp. Finally, we had our closing flag ceremony, and closing remarks from Chris. Jesse did a great job as Master of Ceremonies.
